HISTORY - The first
pottery incarnation
-
1976 Harrow Studio Pottery Course. Tutors included Colin Pearson,Wally
Keeler, Mo Jupp, Mike Dodd,Mick Casson & Richard Slee. Developed a strong
interest in salt-firing .
- 1976-1978
Dartington Pottery Training Workshop. One of the first trainees
at Dartington, working under Peter Starkey & Peter Cook. Repetition
throwing & firing salt kiln. Private sales to Cider Press Gallery &
Casson Gallery. Lidded store jar purchased for Wenger Collection. Cutsided
store jar purchased for Bill Ismay Collection.
- 1978-1979
Set up own workshop in Chiswick, taking pots to Wiltshire to fire
in Joanna Stills' salt kiln. Pots sold in Casson Gallery, Amalgam, Atmosphere,
Inate Harmony, Barclaycraft & Libertys in London & Maceys in New York.
- 1982-1985
Set up workshop in Bishop's Stortford. Built 50cu ft salt kiln.
Selling at local craft shows & craft centres, from the workshop & Casson
Gallery.
- 1983-1984
£2,600 Enterprise Allowance Award for setting up business.
- 1989
- 1995 Teaching in schools & running classes for children & adults
in the workshop. Started to explore earthenware. Selling salt pots to
Amalgam & Primevera.
CURRENT - The second pottery
incarnation
-
2001 - New small ( 8cu ft) gas salt kiln built by Mike Goddard plus
conversion to gas of 50cuft oil-fired salt kiln. Working in salted porcelain
& white stonewarewith some gold lustre. Exhibited in E.A.P. A. 'Potters
in Jesus Lane' Xmas exhibition. Own sale from showroom 'Serious Ceramics
& Precious Porcelain'
- Working
full time in pottery again after many family commitments with the intention
of fulfilling my career in ceramics.
